HRDC-KC - A New Direction

 

 

The IIM Human Resources Development Centre Kalpakkam-Chennai (HRDC-KC) was started in 2007 with the objective to act as a bridge between IIM and industry to serve the human resources development through training courses/consultancy/web portals/books etc., to act as a centre of learning for career advancement in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering for students, to publish books/monographs, and to promote greater interaction between different chapters of IIM in southern region. The activities of the Centre will be pursued in association with the respective Chapter in the region, or in association with other professional organizations in the region. Dr. Baldev Raj, former Director, IGCAR is the Chairman of the management committee, Prof. M. Kamaraj, Chairman of IIM Chennai is the Co-Chairman with members representing all 14 Chapters in the southern region.

IIM HRDC-KC organized

  • A training course on “Industrial cooling water systems – Materials, corrosion, monitoring and treatment” at Anna University, Chennai on 20-21 August 2010. It was also jointly organized by NACE International Gateway India section (south zone), Chennai
  • One day seminar on “Tribology- Materials, coatings and evaluation” on 6th August 2010 at IIT Madras. It was sponsored by the Centre for tribology Inc., Campbell USA. Workshop was attended by forty participants from industry, defence, aero-space research organizations as well as CSIR laboratories and academia.
  • Two day course on “Materials characterization and failure analysis” on 4th and 5th March 2011 at IIT Madras. It was jointly organized by ASM International Chennai chapter.

A draft MOU is under preparation between IIM HRDC-KC and Annamalai University, Chidambaram to provide certificate/diploma/PG diploma to experienced and skilled personal in metallurgy related industries.
