Young Scientist Forum 2019

A unique technical forum, named the 'Young Scientist Forum' was conceptualised by IIM Kalpakkam Chapter to provide young scientists/metallurgists to share their ideas, research and achievements in all areas of metallurgy, materials science and related aspects.

The most recent Young Scientist Forum was held on 19 March 2019 at IGCAR, Kalpakkam. The programme commenced with opening remarks by Dr. G. Amarendra, Director MMG and MSG, where the importance of regular technical exchanges and knowledge-sharing was discussed. The meeting comprised of three talks delivered by young scientists of IIM Kalpakkam chapter on diverse, emerging fields in materials science and engineering.

The first talk, by Dr. Haraprasanna Tripathy, described recent efforts in combining experimental studies with modelling/simulation to acquire a better understanding of thermophysical behaviour and recrystallization characteristics of IFAC-1 steel. This was followed by an expository talk on probing 2D plasmons in InN nanostructures and their SERS activity, delivered by Dr. Kishore Kumar Madapu.
Dr. Barid Baran Lahiri engaged the audience with his stimulating presentation on magnetic fluid hyperthermia in the final talk of YSF-2019.
